Besides our school curriculum, the students learn about character education.  Showing good manners, respect, and responsibility are taught every day in our school.

Throughout the school year, the 1st grade, 2nd grade students attend special events such as: The Fall Festival Parade, PTO Assemblies, Fun Day, Arbor Day Activity (planting a tree), End of the Year programs and other special activities.  The 1st and 2nd grade students will have an Art Show, Music Concert, and Field Trip.  They will also participate in the Jump Rope for Heart program.

Our parent involvement in our school is incredible!  The parent involvement and support helps make our school activities very enjoyable for our students.

Another part of our curriculum is our MAP (Measure of Academic Process) Testing procedure.  The students in the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District will take this test on a computer two times during the school year (once in the fall and again in the spring).  This formative assessment provides beneficial information to the teachers and parents including the child’s instructional level, areas of strength and concern, and how the child is progressing.  Teachers benefit from this information by using the results to help differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of every child in the classroom.  In addition, this assessment provides a wealth of data to the district which creates a thorough standard for evaluating learning resources and Curricular Programs that will best suit the needs of our students.  In first grade, the students will take a Primary Survey with Goals assessment in the fall and spring that will begin to track their scores to determine “growth”.  Students in grades 2-6 will take the Regular Map Survey with Goals assessment 2 times a year, which will continue to track their growth and provide useful information that will benefit every child’s instructional opportunities.
