    Who Is Mr. Tranz?

Hello and thank you for visiting my webpage.  Below, I have provided information about myself and my educational and professional backgrounds.

I received my Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1992 for music education and my Masters of Arts Degree in 2002 for music education from Rowan University.  I also possess New Jersey Supervisor Certification.  I've had the honor of teaching in the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District since 1992.  This year I am responsible for instructing 5th and 6th grade instrument lessons and bands.

I serve as assistant director for the Glassboro High School Bulldog Marching Band, a post which I have held since 2001.  Both my children are currently members of the group.  I also volunteer and serve as music director of a summer youth band program, sponsored by the Original Hobo Band, Inc.  The Youth Band committee commissioned three pieces by composer John O'Reilly in 2008, 2014 and 2019.  The premiere performances of these works were conducted by Mr. O'Reilly in Pitman, NJ.  The pieces are titled Firestorm - 2008, Hobo Train - 2014 and Silver Festival - 2019.  Silver Festival was Mr. O'Reilly's 400th published composition spanning a 50 year career as a composer.  It was a real pleasure and enjoyable experience preparing for each piece's premiere performance.

I have been a member of a community band in the past and served as one of the organization's Associate Directors between the years 1999 and 2004.  I have also served as a participating director for the All South Jersey Junior High Band.  I have served as a participating director in the South Jersey Elementary Honors Band and in 2002 I served as the manager of the Blue Band.  In 2015, I had the honor of serving as the conductor for the Elementary Honors Red Band.  These bands are sponsored by the South Jersey Band And Orchestra Directors Association.  In 2020 I served as manager to the Olympic Conference Junior High Honors Band.

I was awarded "Teacher of the Year" by the South Harrison School District for the 1995/1996 school year and by the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District for the 2002/2003 school year.  In 2003 I was awarded an Honorary Membership into the Tri-M Music Honor Society by students of Glassboro High School.

I thoroughly enjoy working with the students of the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District.  I look forward to another productive, adventurous and music filled school year.
