•     Snack Information

Please see below for a suggested snack list. We are an allergy classroom. During snack, in the classroom, your child may not eat any peanut products. However, your child may eat foods with nuts at lunch.

I find that speaking to your child about what he/she should have for snack and what is for lunch is a good place to start. (We will discuss in the classroom as well.) Also, you could mark their snack food with a sticker so they know to eat that for snack.

Feel free to send in a drink for snack as well. We do have a water fountain in the classroom if you would prefer that.

One thing that gets tricky is that the children need to get used to the fact that snack is only something small/quick to eat and drink rather than eating so much that they don’t have enough left for lunch. While I try to monitor this closely, it can be difficult with a classroom of children. Thanks for your help in reinforcing this at home.

Snack will take place daily at approximately 10:00.

     The Margaret C. Clifford School
    2019-2020 Snack Guidelines

As safety is always a top notion at MCS, we are asking all parents to refrain from sending in foods that contain peanuts, tree nuts, or have been made in a facility that processes peanuts or tree nuts for students to consume during their daily snack times. Please check labels of snacks sent into school as ingredient lists can often change. It is preferred that any item sent into school for your child’s snack contain a food/ingredients label so ingredients can be checked.

These guidelines are for classroom snack time. Any item may, however, be brought into the cafeteria for lunch. Certain procedures are in place for lunch to monitor the safety of all students.
