“Our intention is to create a learning community for parents of students receiving special education services, teachers and administrators. We also provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities. Through education and collaboration, the best outcomes for our children can be achieved."

We are a group of parents who work closely with the Special Education Department to provide educational workshops and share important information on community based resources.

New Jersey Administrative Code 6A: 14-1.2(h) states that: Each board of education shall ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities

ABC’s of Workshop Etiquette:
Always be respectful.
Be quiet when the presenter is speaking and silence cell phones.
Communicate your questions on index cards to be collected and presented at the end of the workshop.

What is the purpose of SEPAC?

* To provide direct input to the district on the policies, programs, and practices that impact services and  supports for the children with disabilities and their families.

* To foster a collaborative relationship between parents and school district staff.

* To create opportunities for parents to become more knowledgeable about the special education process and advocate more effectively on behalf of their children.

**SEPAC is not a forum for parents to raise specific concerns about their child and his/her IEP. If you have a concern about  your child's Individualized Educational Program, please contact his/her teacher and/or case manager directly. You can also contact the Director of Special Services, Heather Worrell, at hworrell@swsdk6.com
